About

Fuzu is an indi/electronica/rock band that started in 2005 when Sean Brokenshire (bass), Toby Forage (drums) and Grant Young (vocals, keyboard, programming) began experimenting with a bunch of new sounds. Grant and Toby previously played for Sydney indi-rock outfit Glance, and called upon Sean to begin the process of writing new material with a different slant. Dominik Malzacher (guitar) joined the three-piece in 2006, fleshing out the line-up and creating a more live sound.

Fuzu draw from a collective wealth of influences that span a wide range of musical styles - everything from soft, textured electronica to driven, soaring rock; from neat pop to sprawling noise. Utilising these resources, Fuzu have quickly developed a sound built on electronic foundations, complemented by live instrumentation creating an aural patchwork of guitars, loops, melodies and grooves that continually surprises.

The guys have forged ahead in 2006, refining and evolving their songs to work as well in the live context as they do in the studio. Rock and electronica - the organic and the synthetic - have become one under Fuzu’s versatile wings, and the flight is exhilarating and unpredictable; an intricate puzzle with complexities that are disguised by simple, catchy grooves and a tight pop aesthetic, making listening to Fuzu addictive.

“Smooth and atmospheric, Fuzu conveys its emotionally-driven themes using an electronic pop/rock fusion and down-tempo rhythms. With hints of The Cure and The Postal Service, the band manages to hold the listeners attention through its honest approach to music” - Conrad Rozycki, Music Writer, BRAG.

With the songbook quickly expanding, Fuzu recorded its inaugural demo in mid-2006 and is all set to hit the live scene to share its sounds with expectant audiences across Sydney and beyond.
